This paper we discuss the history of Walmart, its entry into Brazil, China and India, the problems faced in each of these economies, the current situation of Walmart in these economies and the road ahead for Walmart. The entry into the emerging economies was made with a bang but the effect of Walmart faded away at the same speed as 1 it entered these markets. In India Walmart entered in 2007 and has faced a similar situation. Walmart entered into Brazil and China in 19 respectively but has not been able to capitalize on the market potential these markets offered and till date has not become the retail leader in these markets. The motive behind this study is to understand the ecosystem in which the company is operating in USA vis-à-vis International Markets with specific reference to the emerging economies such as Brazil, China and India. stores under 69 banners in 27 countries, Walmart has become the largest retailer in the globe. With fiscal year 2013 sales of around $469.2 billion, employee's strength of 2.2 million and operating 11,000. Such is the impact and presence of Walmart in the USA which operates retail formats which includes grocery stores, discount warehouse clubs and combination of general merchandise store. Walmart is the name every American retail Consumer's mind recollects when the need for shopping arises. By connecting business ecosystem concept to complexity research, it is possible to bring new insights to changing business environments. The focal complexity aspects appearing in business ecosystems are presented they are self-organization, emergence, co-evolution and adaptation.


Fourth, the emerging research field of complexity in social sciences is brought out due to authors' attitude to consider ecosystems and business ecosystems as complex, adaptive systems. Third, business ecosystem concept is outlined by discussing views of main contributors and then bringing authors' own definition out.
